Remember the sacrifice

EVENING REFLECTION: “Remember the Sacrifice”

Share

The song writer says, “Give thanks with a grateful heart. Give thanks to the Holy One. Give thanks because He has given Jesus Christ His son.” It should never be lost on us that “God gave His only begotten son” (John 3:16). If He had not made this sacrifice, we are of most men miserable.

Our born-again life began with a sacrifice.

The sacrifice

You may be going through a rough patch right now and saying to yourself, “What do I have to be thankful for?” That’s pain and disappointment talking. In this place, in this frame of mind, I encourage you to push past the pain and see for a minute God’s sacrifice for you.

Are you perhaps in a place where you are “all cried out”? Know that God has bottled every tear (Psalm 56:8) and every time you moaned and groaned, the Holy Spirit maketh intercession for you (Romans 8:26). Today we have the Holy Spirit because of the sacrifice.

Christ knew the agony to come and still yet he declared, “Not my will but thy will be done” (Luke 22:42). What could cause Him to make such a statement? LOVE (and friendship). The Word says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend (John 15:13). In one act, this was demonstrated – Christ’s crucifixion. Talk about using one stone to kill two birds. Christ loves me and He is my friend!

This love (and friendship) is given (and is available), whether we feel like we deserve it or not. In a place where you feel like “no one loves me,” remember the sacrifice.

Let’s honour His sacrifice by walking in love (John 13:35).

Today we have a lively hope because of the sacrifice. This same Jesus who was crucified, raised from the dead and He is today at the right of the Father as our intercessor, will one day return for us (Acts 1:11; 1Thessalonians 4:16-18).

Today, when I think of the sacrifice that was made for me (and you), I am truly grateful! How about you?

Lord, may I never forget your sacrifice. Thank you for the sacrifice.

Please share.
