We are generally not acquainted with unfailing love. In this world system we see love failing every day. It has become the norm. Some of us even have firsthand experience of failing love.
We can however rest assured that God’s love never fails (1Corinthians 13:8).
As Christians, especially if we are pre-exposed or are currently exposed to unfailing love, we have to constantly guard our minds against an incorrect view of God’s love. We could start believing subconsciously that God’s love will fail just as we see in our lives and in the world system.
To really understand and walk into unfailing love we must first become new. We read in 2Corinthians 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old as gone, the new has come.” As a new creation we are planted in God’s unfailing love.
The Word is our guide and the Holy Spirit is the Teacher of this “new way”. Let’s look on an example of migration. When we move to a new country, we have to learn their laws, culture, language, road codes, which side of the road to drive on. It is the same way when we change our citizenship to heaven. Now that we are living in Christ, we have to learn the new way of life in the Kingdom of God. Scripture describes this as “not being conformed to this world but being transformed by the renewing of our minds.” (Roman’s 12:2) In the transformation process we learn to operate and embrace this new way of loving. Also in this process, we lose our disappointment in love’s failure while learning to trust that God’s love is unfailing.
God proves His unfailing love by, according to Ephesians 1:4-5, choosing us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love, He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ. He backs this up in Jeremiah 1:5 where we are told that He knew us (He loved us) before we were formed in our mother’s womb.
God was loving on us even before we got here.
We sometimes have “Why” and “What if” questions, but know this, when He placed us to live in Him, we became complete in Him.
His love for us is so all sufficient and unfailing that we don’t need to worry about who doesn’t love us. We should instead focus on the God who loves us and love Him back.
We can only rest in His unfailing love by spending quality, prioritised time with Him. Abiding in Him we get to know Him (Love). Get in His presence by reading His Word and praying, and it is in Him that our vision and perspective of love will change.
Accept (and rest in) God’s unfailing love today.
Amen. “Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah…”
Thanks for these words of counsel. We indeed need to rest in His unfailing love.
His Love has no limit, such love such wonderous love.
Amen and Amen!
This is so true and a reminder that when man fail; our Abba will never fail us no matter what. He promises to never leave or forsake us. He loves us so much, that he sent His only begotten son to die on the cross for us. Awesome Simply RonaV
We can take this to the bank Lanuna – He does not fail, He cannot fail, He will not fail!
