What Does it Mean to Have a HAPPY Birthday

The excitement of “another year”. God’s grace and mercy has brought me to another year and I am grateful. I’m blessed!

I was giddy with glee on my 40th birthday! I made it to the end of a generation! Nothing could wipe the grin off of my face this day.

Decked out in the brightest jacket I could find and high heeled platform shoes (only donned on “special occasions”) to wear to work that morning and grinning from ear to ear, I stepped out. Everybody knew it was my birthday – just like you have a countdown to Christmas, I have one for my birthday and then I celebrate for the entire month; keep those gifts coming (no shame).

On this day, I really realised just how highly contagious happiness (laughter, joy) is! πŸ˜€

On my father’s side of the family tree, there are a few family members who are blessed with the gift of laughter. On my mother’s side of the tree, they are blessed with making you laugh. Just imagine me in the middle, having a tickle bone and loving to tickle – the perfect spot. πŸ˜€

It got me to thinking, “Where has the laughter gone?!” You know …  those throw back your head, tears falling out your eyes, belly cramping, can hardly catch your breath laughter? It seems to be MIA. I don’t even laugh as much as I used to.

Laughter is so important to our daily lives, the Word of God prescribes it.

This happiness is not a fleeting moment or a one-time event. This happiness emanates from our hearts and therefore should be “life as we know it”.

Laughter is so infectious.

My countenance was aglow all day! On this my 40th birthday I rediscovered my “funny bone”. My laughter prescription was definitely filled. It was indeed a HAPPY (heart full of joy and goodness) birthday!

BLESSed people have pleasant countenances and people want to be around them.

This birthday is etched in my memory and captured on camera. Remember my friend who tells me I’m not normal, well, I asked her to take A picture to commemorate the occasion (I am not big on picture taking) and the chile tun paparazzi! Later that day, I received a WhatsApp message firing off shots (notifications coming in) and the caption read, “40 pictures for your 40th”. Now who is the abnormal one?! This set off another round of rofl laughter.

40-Forwarders, let’s bring laughter back into focus. Let’s ensure it is part of our BLESSing plan!

So, at 40, a beautiful (Happy) birthday was had at the office spreading joy and cheer, and I had my first photo shoot! πŸ˜€

Best believe I was looking forward to 41! πŸ˜‰
